    Torrington- Priscilla A. Rivera, 73, passed away Thursday, January 16, 2020 at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital, Torrington. She was the beloved wife of Victor M. Rivera. Mrs. Rivera was born in Torrington on March 25, 1946, daughter of the late Lester Meeker, Sr., and Mary (Pietrafesa) Meeker, and had been a lifelong city resident. She was a retired employee of the Torrington Company, retiring with 38 years of service. After retirement from the Torrington Company, she worked in housekeeping at Paradigm Health Care Center for 10 years. Mrs. Rivera was a lifelong communicant of St. Peter Church of St. John Paul the Great Parish. She was a member of the Holy Rosary Society and the Veneta Society Ladies Auxiliary. Priscilla had a great love for animals, supporting animal shelters and feeding strays. She enjoyed watching UCONN sports, old-time TV shows, and loved being home and taking care of her family. Priscilla will be missed dearly by her close family and friends. She is remembered for her generosity and kindness to others. She loved to cook and showed others her affection for them through her cooking, baking and crafting. No one was ever hungry around Priscilla Priscilla’s family would like to thank the 5th floor nurses and staff at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital for their kind and compassionate care shown to Priscilla during her stay. Survivors, in addition to her husband, Victor, include her son and caregiver, Richard M. Rivera of Torrington; two granddaughters, Alexis V. Rivera and Ashley L. Wasilonsky; a great-grandson, Patrick K. Smith, III; a sister, Sandra Deneault of Torrington; and nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews and great-great niece & nephew. Mrs. Rivera was predeceased by a son, Victor J. “Torrio” Rivera; a brother, Lester Meeker, Jr.; and two sisters, Mae Meeker Rivera and Rosemarie Boothroyd. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 22, 2020 at 10:00a.m. from Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home, 258 Prospect St., Torrington, to St. Peter Church, 107 E. Main St., Torrington, for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00a.m. Burial will follow in New St. Francis Cemetery, Torrington. Friends may call Tuesday, January 21, 2020 from 5:00 to 7:00p.m. at Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Torrington Police Activities League, 16 School St., Suite 106, Torrington, CT 06790 or the Little Guild Animal Shelter, 285 Sharon-Goshen Tpke, West Cornwall, CT 06796.
