    Rachel Blosveren was born in London, England in August 1838. She married Benjamin Blosveren (born July 4, 1836) May 30, 1860. She died January 30, 1909 at the age of 71. Rachel’s parents were Moses Samuel and Sarah Davis who married in London in 1810. She and Benjamin had 10 children, 2 of whom either died at birth or under the age of 2 years. Rachel was a cape maker in London and a housewife after the emigrated to New York City on January 24, 1872 w;ith 5 children. Benjamin Blosveren was also a cape maker in London and a furrier in New York. The Blosveren Furrier Company is listed in the book The Fur Trade of America and Some of the Men Who Made and Maintain It. The surviving children of Benjamin and Rachel Blosveren’ family of marriages to their children branched out into at least 4 families. Many members of the Blosveren’s family still survive with many names like Crown, Moskowitz, Shuter and Selk.

My name is Lawrence Newhouse. My grandmother was Minnie Jacoby whose maiden name was Crown. Her mother, Sarah, was one of the 2nd generation of the Blosveren family that emigrated to New York City and was born there. Her mother died died giving birth to Minnie’s sister, Rae. Minnie was born November 3, 1892 and died Nov. 1, 1971.
