In the last decade or so of her life, her health was in a fragile state. Her Grandson, Ralph Barton Hawk Jr, was sent to live with her by his father when he was near the age of 17. As her caretaker, he had to give up his remaining days of youth. He managed to still court my Grandmother, Jean, but he did remain Tressa's caretaker up until his own marriage took place in 1956.
