Did you know?
In 1937, in the year that Ramonita Guadalupe was born, on May 28th, the San Francisco Golden Gate Bridge opened to cars. Taking 5 years to build, the 4,200-foot-long suspension bridge was an engineering marvel of its time - 11 men died during construction. The "international orange" color was chosen because it resisted rust and fading. To the present, it is the symbol of the City that is known throughout the world.
Did you know?
In 1955, at the age of 18 years old, Ramonita was alive when in January, President Eisenhower sent direct aid to South Vietnam. In February, U.S. advisors were sent to train troops.

How to Throw a Party in the 1950s
Do you remember watching these films - or sometimes filmstrips - about dating, family life, courtesy, or citizenship on rainy days in school? If you're old enough you might have saw movies like this in home economics or social studies. They were always welcome because at least you had a break from listening to the teacher - but even at the time, they seemed a little corny. This 1950 Coronet film, "What Makes A Good Party", is typical of those types of films and as usual, provides a smile while some interesting observations into life in the 1950's.
