    Randy was born in Savannah, GA, Chatham County, USA. His family lived on Tybee Island, GA , still in Chatham County, After leaving Tybee they moved to Pembroke, GA, Bryan County. After his parents separated, Randy moved to TX with his mother eventually moving back to Georgia to live with his father. He went to Bryan County High School, graduating in 1971. Randy and I met in 1968, but I was dating his older brother, Burt. Unfortunately, it was too late for us because you don't date an ex girl friend!! He moved back to TX after graduation and lived with his mom again. He joined the Air Force and after discharge he decided to go to Galveston College for his associates degree. He worked as a Fireman and tried his hand as a respiratory therapist, but he couldn't take it! I really don't know that much about his early life in TX. He moved from TX to Key West, FL where he started working in construction. He liked it so much, he decided to try his hand in the mountains of TN. His mother helped him get started in his construction business After he paid the loan off, he decided to start a development company and then he moved on to open a rental company after he built his cabins - Starr Crest Resort in Pigeon Forge, TN.

    Randall Edward Ussery, 67, passed away September 6, 2019 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Savannah, GA. He was a native of Chatham County and was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He lived in Severiville, TN for a number of years where he developed and built Starr Crest Resort Resort in Pigeon Forge, TN. , before he moved to Evans County. He was preceded in death by his parents: Burt A. Ussery, Jr. and Carolyn V Rodgers. SURVIVORS: His loving companion, Patsy NeSmith Herring of Claxton, GA; sons, Dewayne Ogletree (Tasha) of Macon, GA; Michael Ussery of Sevierville, TN; daughter, Amanda U. Defore (Jesse) of Seymour, TN: brothers, Burt A. Ussery III (Patricia) of Arabi, GA: and George D. Ussery (Linda) of Dickinson, TX; sisters, Shelby Stewart (Bill) of Ellabell, GA, Regina Curl (Marty) of Ellabell, GA, Sandra Hurn (Bobby) of Washington; five grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. VISITATION: Tuesday, September 10, 2019, 10:00 am -11:00 am at J.Mellie neSmith Funeral Home. FUNERAL; September 10, 2019, 11am at J. Mellie NeSmith Funeral Home.
