Ray was married twice in his life. He first married Margaret Sleezer (1920-2004) on October 8, 1939 in Johnstown, New York, USA. They had one son together. Later on May 26, 1972 he married Dorothy Mae Walker (1933–2014) in Henrico, Virginia, USA.
