He then enlisted in the US Army on April 11th, 1942, in Rutland, Vermont. He was initially classified under the "Branch Immaterial - Warrant Officers" category and held the rank of Private. During his time in the military, Raymond served in both World War II and the Korean War. His branch of service was the US Army and he was a First Lieutenant. He was married to Catherine Ann Kennedy (1920-2015) and they had a son together.

During his time in the military, Raymond served in both World War II and the Korean War. His branch of service was the US Army and he was a First Lieutenant.
