    Raymond Peter Arff is the son of Annette Peterson (1874-1908) and Conrad C Arff (1888-1959). He was born on April 30, 1908 in Rocky River, Cuyahoga Co., OH and had siblings Arnold Conrad Arff (1905-1987) and Norma Arff (1905-1971). His mother died the year Raymond was born, (died of childbirth?) and he lived in Cleveland, Ohio and Rocky River, Cuyahoga Co., OH. In his early 20's Raymond was a professional gold player and worked at a local golf club in Rocky River, Ohio. He later moved to California living in both Orange County and San Diego County. On June 29th, 1942, Raymond enlisted in the Army branch, with the rank of Private. He joined the Branch Immaterial - Warrant Officers, USA and his service didn't last long as he was discharged on August 24th, 1943, after serving for just over a year.
