Raymond Shamie's father was Deeb A Shamis (1891 - 1937), born in East Canada, and his mother was Camille Simonet (1888 - 1980), born in France. He had 2 siblings. When Raymond was 9 years old, he was living in Queens, New York with his parents "Deev", 41, and Camille, 41, and his siblings Robert, 13, and Louise, 11. Dad was a "chauffer", truck, and no one else in the household was working. When he was 19, Raymond was still living with his mother in Queens and by now, she was a widow.. He was in his first year of college and his sibling Louise was also still at home. Louise was the only one working - she was a stenographer in an auto sales company. When Raymond was 21, he signed up for the World War II draft. Still living in Queens, his mother was his next of kin and he was working for Nathan Manufacturing Co. By then, he was 5 feet 9.5 inches tall, weighed 157 pounds, and had brown eyes, brown hair, and a "dark" complexion. Raymond was a veteran of World War II, he enlisted in the Air Corps on August 23, 1943, and was discharged on January 31, 1945. When he enlisted, he was married. He served as a pilot. Raymond married Edna and they had Janet and Susan. Robert owned Metal Bellows Corp, as well as Therix and Infusaid. Born February 14, 1921 in Brooklyn, N.Y., hea had been a pilot with the Army Air Corps during World War Ii and was the owner of Metal Bellows Corp. of Sharon, Massl and Therix and Infusaid, both of Walpole Mass. Raymond possessed two honorary doctorate degrees, was the former chairman of the Massachusetts Republican Party and founded the Pioneer institute, a foundation helping to support charter schools in Massachusetts, and the Beacon Hill Institute, a foundation promoting free enterprise and individual liberties. Surviving are his wife, Edna; his two daughters, Janet Steele of Annapolis, Md. and Susan Maynard of Walpole, Mass; and his brother, Robert Shamie of Tucson, Ariz.
