Reginald William Conuel's History: 1920 - 1943

Uncover new discoveries and connections today by sharing about people & moments from yesterday.
  • Introduction

Reg was born to Nellie Conuel, at 16 North Adelaide Street, Keighley, West Yorkshire, England. On his birth certificate, his mother's occupation was given as Worsted Spinning Rover of same address. No father given. He attended Keighley Grammar School and was also brought up with his aunt and uncle (Kate Emma, nee Conuel and Ernest Wright - also my grandparents). In Keighley Central Library there is a plaque in memorium to all ex Grammar School attendees who lost their lives in the wars and his name is on there too. As a child, I seemed to always remember him being called 'your mum's cousin Reg who was shot down in the war' - he was never just called Reg, always the full explanation
