    Death Date could be incorrect. Letter dated 29th August 1915. Cairns was in charge on 26th or 27th May about 2 miles on left of Walkers Ridge.After the charge informant was told by one of the men in the Squadron that Cairns was killed shot through the head.

CAIRNS.- Killed in action on the 29th August, ( previously reported missing ), Private Reuben Dalgleish, youngest son of John and the late Emma Cairns, and brother of Alex, Mabel, Douglas and Beatrice. On Anzac's field of battle, With a spirit brave and true, He fought for our right and freedom, What more can a hero do ?

In 1900, when he was only 7 years old, when Floradora opened on Broadway. A huge success in London - opening in 1899 and running for 455 performances - the musical was even more successful in New York - running for 552 performances. The "Floradora girls" were the hit of the show - a "sextette of tall, gorgeous damsels, clad in pink walking costumes, black picture hats and carrying frilly parasols who swished onto the stage and captivated New York for no other reason than they were utterly stunning" ("tall and gorgeous" translated to 5'4"). A sensation, each Floradora girl was said to have married a millionaire.
