Rev. Joseph Hay was born on August 16, 1847 in Kirkintilloch, East Dunbartonshire County, Scotland United Kingdom to William Hay and Mary Hay ( Moffat. He was in a relationship with Marjory Hay ( Pender, and had children Iris Marjorie Hay, Olga Janet Hay, Norman Henderson Hay, Francis Arthur Hay, and Mary Helaine Hay. Rev. Hay died at age 74 years old on August 16, 1921 in Saint Kilda, VIC Australia, and was buried at Melbourne General Cemetery College Cres, in Parkville, Melbourne City County.

    The Age, Melbourne. 17 August 1921. HAY. - On the 16th August, at 12 Alma road, St. Kilda, the Rev. Joseph, the dearly loved husband of Marjory Hay, in his 75th year. The Benalla Standard, Victoria. 23 August 1921. OBITUARY. REV. J. HAY. The Rev. Joseph Hay, a former Shepparton Shire councillor, ( Dookie Riding ), died on Tuesday at St. Kilda. Mr. Hay who was 75 years of age, came to Victoria as a Presbyterian minister many years ago. He was associated at College in Glasgow with the the Rev. Dr. Charles Strong, and during the controversy which resulted in Dr. Strong severing his connection with Scots Church in Collins Street, Mr. Hay took a leading part on his side. Soon afterwards Mr. Hay's health gave way, and he retired for several years to a property he owned at Dookie. Resuming ministerial work, Mr. Hay was stationed in various parts of the State. He was for many years in charge of the Presbyterian Church at Elsternwick. Recently Mr. Hay took over the work at Black Rock....
