  • Introduction

    Richard Campbell Sage born November 30, 1953, I am his only child Richard Christopher Sage born November 30, 1973, my dad was an avid hunter, and fisherman, a black belt in karate, and one of the most honest men I had ever known. He had his own siding company and was known for being excellent in shooting any gun you placed in his hands. I witnessed him reel in a 47-pound striper from the bank of the Smith Mountain Lake here in Virginia. Also on Doe Run, he was witnessed by Charles Sage shooting a twelve-point buck while lying on his side with an arrow, which deflected off a tree into the buck instantly killing him. When I went to my dad's viewing, I was so impressed at the outpour of kindness, it was like a revelation and a blessing as to the number of people that showed up that day, I have never seen so many people flying in and out of that room in my life. From time the viewing took place people filed in and out in orderly fashion, never slowing down, other than to say a kind word to the widow Maggie Sage, and to stop look at me in amazement and all said the same thing, "WOW, you must be his son, you look just like him, I mean like his twin" Dad you are and will always be remembered to me as the best pool player I ever saw or played, in fact, I joined the APA, come in at a 2, won in two games easily, the next week the APA people came to see me and had jacked my score up to a seven, thanks dad, they thought I was you. Just wanted to share that. Plus, we not only shared birthdays, but you were diagnosed with cancer on 1/23/03, me on 1/23/08, you passed on 6/25/03, I was declared in remission on 6/25/08, I came out of the hospital and looked up and thanked both of my fathers. I love you Dad
