Richard Ponemon Obituary
Richard David Ponemon, 86, died Thursday, March 24, 2005. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 1, at Los Osos Valley Mortuary Chapel on Los Osos Valley Road.
Richard was born in New York City and earned a bachelor's of science at New York University and a master's in business administration at Hofstra University.
During World War II, he was a U.S. Army captain on McArthur's staff in The Philippines.
For many years, he was president of Pyroferric International, manufacturers of radio and television parts with factories in the Bronx, N.Y., and Toledo, III.
Richard moved to San Luis Obispo in 1996. He was a committed member of the Service Corps Of Retired Executives, where many profited from his advice and wisdom. Richard was also a hard working and generous supporter of Temple Beth David, serving many years on their board in various capacities.
During his years in San Luis Obispo, he aided many people with his wide knowledge and willingness to help. He was a man of great integrity and intelligence, a true gentleman.
Richard is survived by his loved wife of 63 years, Rheta; beloved son, David Matthew, and his life companion, Terry Childers. Richard will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him.
