Richard E. Broadt, age 86, of 2545 County Line Road, Selinsgrove, died at 1:15 p.m. Friday, March 26, 2021, at the Mansion Nursing & Rehabilitation in Sunbury where he was a patient. Born in Bloomsburg on July 20, 1934, he was a son of the late Jacob and Grace (Broadt) McCormick. He resided in Selinsgrove for 40 years. Richard was last employed by the former Pennsylvania House Furniture Factory in Lewisburg as the maintenance supervisor, retiring in 1996. He was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Shamokin Dam. Richard loved motorcycles and doing carpenter work. He also was an excellent mechanic. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Chris Richard Broadt, on Sept. 6, 2018, and by a grandson, Christopher Richard Broadt, in 2004. Surviving is his wife, the former A. Pearl Spudes, with whom he observed his 65th wedding anniversary on May 28, 2020; two daughters, Alea, wife of Kenneth Wright, Ervington, Kentucky, and Cindy, wife of Steven Trapane, Milton; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He was the last of his immediate family. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 2 p. m. in the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market Street, Bloomsburg, with his pastor, Vicar Mindell Bartholomew, officiating. Viewing from 1-2 p. m.
