Richard G Levad of Grand Junction, Mesa County, CO was born on July 26, 1941 to Marie Louise (Drugg) Levad and Gordon Levad. He had siblings Charles Henry Levad, David Levad, Steven Levad, Joseph Levad, Thomas Levad, James Levad, Mary (Levad) Mosiman Lovstad, Bob Levad, Susan Levad Baugus, Sharon Levad Bedig, and Edward B. Levad. He married Karen Madison Levad on June 11, 1966, and had children Andrew Levad, Katherine (Levad) Scott, Kenneth Levad, and Amy Levad DelCogliano. Richard Levad died at age 66 years old on February 27, 2008.

In 1941, in the year that Richard G Levad was born, on June 25th, President Roosevelt signed Executive Order 8802, prohibiting racial discrimination in the defense industry. EO 8802 was the first federal action to prohibit employment discrimination - without prejudice as to "race, creed, color, or national origin" - in the U.S. Civil Rights groups had planned a march on Washington D.C. to protest for equal rights but with the signing of the Order, they canceled the March.
Did you know?
In 1955, Richard was merely 14 years old when on September 30th, movie star James Dean, 24, died in a car accident. He was headed in his new Porsche 550 to a race in Salinas California when, traveling at 85 mph, he collided with a 1950 Ford Tudor, also speeding, driven by a 23 year old college student. Dean died, his passenger and the other driver survived.
