    The Syracuse Herald-Journal (NY) - Feb 27, 1987 Services for Richard Callen, 43, a former Oswego resident who died Feb. 17 in Chicago, are 8:15 a.m. Monday at Dain-Cullinan Funeral Home and 9 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. Peter's Cemtery. Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, 112 E. Second St. Mr. Callen, who was born in Oswego , graduated from Oswego High School. He served in the Marine Corps. Surviving are his mother, Ann Cira Callen; two brothers, James, of Vallejo, Calif., and Bruce, of Oswego ; a sister, Rose Parker, of Pinole, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews.

Detroit - the main hub of car manufacturing - was ordered to free up assembly lines for military production. The used car market boomed (as did a black market in used cars).
