He had siblings Christina Ethel Murnane, Ernest John Murnane, Lorna Alice Murnane, and Michael Edward Murnane. He married Bertha Spargo Murnane, and had a child Ellen Elsie Murnane. Richard Murnane died at age 69 years old on October 15, 1984 in Box Hill, Whitehorse City County.
