Richard Pattie died at age 67 years old on December 11, 1962 in Altona, City of Hobsons Bay County, and was buried on December 13, 1962 at Altona Memorial Park Dohertys Rd, in Laverton North, Hobsons Bay City County.

Previously thought to be "useless" land - not even good for farming - the tribe had bought the land themselves.
