Richard Thomas Rotzow of Cuyahoga County, Ohio United States was born on April 15, 1918 in Cleveland. He married Florence Alice (Simone) Canzone on June 21, 1941 in Cleveland, Cuyahoga County and they later divorced on December 21, 1951 in Los Angeles, Los Angeles County, California. He also married Dorothy Irene (Bohrer) Rotzow on October 2, 1953, and they were married until Dorothy's death on February 6, 2009. Richard Rotzow died at age 94 years old on January 7, 2013 in Cleveland, OH, and was buried on January 11, 2013 at Sunset Memorial Park 6265 Columbia Road, in North Olmsted.

In 1927, he was only 9 years old when aviator and media darling Charles Lindbergh, age 25, made the first successful solo TransAtlantic flight. "Lucky Lindy" took off from Long Island in New York and flew to Paris, covering  3,600 statute miles and flying for 33 1⁄2-hours. His plane "The Spirit of St. Louis" was a fabric-covered, single-seat, single-engine "Ryan NYP" high-wing monoplane designed by both Lindbergh and the manufacturer's chief engineer.
