Richmond Robinson was born in December 1843, and was the father of Sallie (Robinson) Jones, Julia Evelyn (Robinson) McCalla, Louise (Robinson) Depew, Lula F. Robinson, Mary F. Robinson, Lillie T. Robinson, and Elsie M. Robinson. Richmond Robinson died at age 51 years old on November 26, 1895, and was buried at Old City Cemetery in Rockdale, Milam County, Texas USA.

In 1843, in the year that Richmond Robinson was born, on May 22nd, an estimated 700 to 1,000 pioneers set out from Missouri on the Oregon Trail. Called "The Great Migration of 1843", the wagon train often had to build roads or float down rivers.

In 1855, by the time he was only 12 years old, on March 3rd, Congress appropriated $30,000 to create the U.S. Camel Corps. The idea was to use camels as pack animals in the Southwest and 34 camels were bought. But the Army wasn't enthusiastic about the idea and after the Civil War the Camel Corps was entirely abandoned.
