Robert Akers, born in East Liverpool, Ohio, was the son of Robert Lee and Flora House Akers. He was a graduate of Doylestown High School, class of 1938. He had three brothers, Joseph F., Charles Neil and Keith Daly. He married Ruth D. Spindler and had two daughters, Ruth Ann Lebold, and Rebecca Lou Fee, and a son Robert William. He was a tool and die maker in the U.S. Navy, at the Philadelphia Navy yard. He lived in Willow Grove and was a member of the Willow Grove United Methodist Church. He was fire chief and fire marshal in Willow Grove for several years. He was a life member of the Keystone State Fire Chiefs Association and he received the Legion of Honor membership from the Chapel of the Four Chaplains in 1981. In addition to his wife and children, he is survived by three brothers, Joseph F Akers, Charles Neil Akers, and Keith Daly Akers.
