He was a Lutheran; however, having moved many places throughout his lifetime, he attended many types of non-denominational Christian churches when there were no Lutheran churches nearby. As his son, I attended 13 schools in 6 states during the 12 school years 1951-1963 (one for grades 1-3 East Meadow, L.I., NY; one in grade 4 Delanco, NJ; 4 schools in 2 states in 5th grade - 1 in Pearl River NY other 3 in Miami, FL; grade 6 another Elem. in Miami, gr. 7-9 (Jr High), Miami; gr. 10 Miami & San Antonio, TX; gr. 11 another in San Antonio, finished Charlotte, TN; gr. 12 So. Bend, IN). Mother left @ end of 3rd grade. I lived with relatives until my parents divorced & in Oct. 1955, I moved to Miami & lived with my Dad. He and remarried, and ultimately, they moved to rural Leon County (Tallahassee) Florida until his death.
Military Service

He was 4-F, being born with a hole in his heart and initially thought he would not survive. During WW II, he worked as a Laison Officer in the Australian Embassy in Washington, D.C., where his only child, William (Bill) was born in 1945 at Columbia Hospital.
