    I remember when I was a small child my mother telling me about how my Grandfather had cancer of the voice box and that they had to do surgery on it and that is why he had to talk with an electro-larynx (one of those microphones you had to put up to your throat in order to talk). I also know that he was an over the road truck driver, not sure what company, and he died of a heart attack. I was young so I really do not remember much. My grandmother, Mary A. (LaViolette) Cochenet, and grandfather were divorced and he had a long time relationship with a lady by the name of Donna (I can pronounce her last name but am unable to spell it).

In 1930, in the year that Robert Cochenet was born, on August 6th, N.Y. Supreme Court Judge Joseph Crater went through papers in his office, destroyed some of them, withdrew all his money from the bank - $5,150, sold his stock, met friends at a restaurant for dinner and disappeared after getting into a taxi (or walking down the street - his friends' testimony later changed). His disappearance was reported to the police on September 3rd - almost a month later. His wife didn't know what happened, his fellow Justices had no idea, and his mistresses (he had several) said that they didn't know. While his disappearance was front page news, his fate was never discovered and after 40 years the case was closed, still without knowing if Crater was dead or alive.

In 1953, he was 23 years old when actress and comedian Lucille Ball gave birth to Desi Arnaz, Jr on January 19th. On the same day on "I Love Lucy", the fictional Little Ricky was born as well. Baby Desi graced the cover of the first TV Guide magazine with a headline that read ""Lucy's $50,000,000 baby" - because the commercial revenue from his birth was expected to be that amount.
