Robert Daniel (Bob) McAleer 1888 - 1950

Robert Daniel Mcaleer of Isle of Man was born on July 7, 1888 at Ballynagilly - Lissan, in Cookstown, Cookstown County, Northern Ireland United Kingdom to Henry McAleer Jr and Lizzie McIvor. He had siblings Frank Mcaleer, Peter McAleer, Patrick McAleer, Henry John McAleer, William Thomas McAleer, Sarah Anne O'Hanlon, Mary Jane McAleer, and Joseph McAleer. He married Ethel McAleer on June 27, 1915, and died at age 61 years old on March 3, 1950 at Noble's Hospital in Braddan Isle of Man. Robert Mcaleer was buried on March 7, 1950 in Onchan.

In 1896, he was just 8 years old when in April, the first study on global warming due to CO2 - carbon dioxide - in the atmosphere was published by Swedish scientist Svante Arrhenius. Arrhenius concluded that human activity due to the Industrial Revolution would amplify CO2 in the atmosphere, causing a greenhouse effect. His conclusions have been extensively tested in the ensuing 100+ years and are still seen to hold true.
