Robert E. Sibole Obituary
Robert E. Sibole, born January 19, 1921 in Sullivan, Miss. to Ashford and Rose Sibole, passed away on Sept. 3, 2009 in Banning. He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Betty Sibole, in 1996. Robert was a resident of Banning for 53 years. He was employed at McDonald Douglas Aircraft of St. Louis, Miss. for five years and retired from Homestead Supply after 30 years. He served in WWII in the US Army as Private First Class from 1942-1945 in North Africa, Naples, Rome, Rhine land and Central Europe, receiving four Bronze Stars. He was a Southern Baptist member of the New Hope Fellowship.
"Papa" Sibole, as he was called by his grandkids, was a truly amazing man who spent his whole life taking care of anyone who needed his help, including his wife of almost 50 years, who he took care of after she was stricken with rheumatoid arthritis at a very young age. Papa spent much of his time teaching guitar and fiddle to many of his family and friends. During his time with Homestead Construction he taught his sons and many of his nephews the art of high quality workmanship. He was very proud of the homes he had built. He shared many good times on his trips to Missouri to see family with his sons Bob and Rick.
All who had the pleasure of knowing him will truly miss him, especially by his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren; their world will not be the same with out Papa.
He is survived by sons: Bob (Juanita) Sibole of Banning, Roger (Karen) Sibole of Hemet, Randy (Joanne) Sibole of Lancaster and Ricky Sibole of Banning; grandson, Robert Sibole of Banning; granddaughter-in-law, Taryn Sibole of Banning; granddaughters: Eryn Sibole of Hemet, Lara (Nick) Auburn of Banning, Krystle Sibole of Hemet and Graysen Sibole of Hemet; great-grandsons: Jordan Sibole of Banning, Robert Sibole Jr. of Banning, Cruz Sibole of Banning; great-granddaughters: Trista Sibole of Banning and Emily Auburn of Banning; and many nieces, nephews, friends and Church family. He was preceded in death by his wife and dear friend and brother-in-law, John Gilbert.
Visitation was held on Sept. 8 at Wiefels and Son Memorial Chapel in Banning. A celebration of life followed on Sept. 9 at New Hope Fellowship followed by reception and graveside service at Desert Lawn Cemetery in Calimesa.
