Robert enlisted in the military on December 23, 1940, in Robertson, Missouri. He held the rank of Corporal in the Air Corps, specifically in the National Guard (Officers, Warrant Officers, and Enlisted Men). Tiefenbrun served as a Sergeant (SGT) in the 301st AAF Bomb Group during World War II in the United States Army Air Forces. In April of 1944, Robert E Tiefenbrun was admitted to the military hospital and was pronounced dead as a casualty of battle.
