Robert Francis Prefontaine was born on September 12, 1918 in Ludington, Mason County, Michigan United States to Aime Prefontaine and Gertrude Elizabeth (Malliat) Prefontaine, and had siblings Gene Prefontaine, Harris Leonard Prefontaine, and Dorothy Jayne (Prefontaine) Cowan. He married Eleanor Frieda (Kappler) Prefontaine on July 14, 1956 in Las Vegas, Clark County, Nevada, and they were married until Robert's death on December 13, 1999. Robert Prefontaine was buried at Resthaven Park West Cemetery in Glendale.
