My father, Robert G. Flosse was born in Fort Lee, New Jersey to Gaston & Gabrielle Flosse, French citizens who were visiting relatives there. He held dual US-French citizenship.

His parents were both French citizens, but his mother later returned to the US through Ellis Island with him & his younger brother, Francis. His home was in New Bern, NC, but he was stationed in San Diego, California as a Marine. He was stationed in various Army bases on the East Coast during his time in the Army, including Fort Monmouth & Redstone Arsenal as well as being stationed in occupied Austria. When he retired, he remained in France to be near his elderly father.

He joined the US Marine Corps at 17 years old & was a combat veteran who saw action in Guam & the Marianas. He received a Purple Heart & a Bronze Star. He joined the US Army around 1950 & was a veteran of the Korean War. He retired around 1965.

He was a professional photographer who taught photography in the US Army as well as owning his own studio.

My father was a very friendly person who loved people & had friends everywhere he went. He was seldom seen without a camera in his hand or nearby.
