Robert A Hogan was born in 1899 in Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania United States to William John Hogan and Mary Ellen (Deens), and has siblings Eugene Hogan, Helen C (Hogan), Marie (Hogan), Margaret Hogan, Catherine (Hogan) Daily, Elizabeth Hogan, and Margaret M (Hogan) Keiner. He married Cecelia Hogan in 1918 in Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, and they were married until Cecelia's death on November 25, 1960. Robert Hogan has children William Hogan, Joseph Hogan, Robert Hogan, Francis Hogan, and Cecelia (Hogan).

Professional Career

Robert never finished grade school. After finding out that he’d been skipping school to play baseball with friends, his father withdrew him from school & Bob went to work (circa 1910). He got a job at Lincoln Hosiery. Eventually, one of the bosses told him, “Bob, why don’t get a truck & we’ll give you our business.” This was in about 1916. He added a 2nd truck in 1919, and 5 more in 1925. His business was called ‘Hogan Hauling’ until about 1929-1930. When he got a contract with PUC, he changed the business name to 'Hogan’s Express'. In spite of his lack of formal education, Bob proved himself to be an astute businessman and made a good living for himself—and for all those who worked for him.
Personal Life & Family

Bob 'got the brass ring' when he courted & married Cecelia—who he called 'the best looking gal who ever walked up Goose Hill.' According to him, theirs 'was a love for the ages.' Sadly, Cecelia passed away relatively young & Bob was heartbroken. He spent the remainder of his days enjoying the company of his friends, siblings, children, & grandchildren.
