  • Introduction

The Traralgon Record, August 1892. Mr. Tanner has just erected the appliances for the manufacture of eucalyptus oil in one of Mr. Macreadie's paddocks, which contains a considerable quantity of peppermint, the kind of gum most favoured for the purpose.... The Rosedale Courier, August 1914. ALL PERSONS TRESSPASSING on "Glenwood" will be Prosecuted, without respect to persons. R. MACREADIE. Willung. The Traralgon Record, April 1927. It was with expressions of profound regret that residents of Rosedale and district on Friday evening last, heard that that fine old pioneer Mr. Robert Macreadie, had passed to that Great Beyond. It can be truly said of Mr. Macreadie that he was one of the "Men That Blazed the Track," and it is highly regrettable that these men are gradually passing away in these parts. Born at Castleblamey, North Ireland, 90 years ago, he came to Victoria in 1864, and worked for some years in the Maffra district, ultimately taking up a selection at Stratford.
