Robert Swan Balden was born in 1857 in Hexham, Nothumberland County England to Isabella (Swan) Balden and John Balden, and had siblings John Balden, Isabella Burnet Balden, William Balden, James Balden, and Peter Gibson Balden. He married Maria (Whiteley) Balden, and had a child John Whiteley Balden. Robert Balden died at age 67 years old in 1924.
