He was part of the Army of the United States component, which included voluntary enlistments from December 8, 1941, onward, one-year enlistments of National Guardsmen whose state enlistment expires while in Federal Service, and officers appointed in the Army. Standing at a height of 70 inches and weighing 143 pounds, Robert's enlistment reflected his commitment to serve his country during a critical time in history. His contribution, alongside that of many others, played a role in shaping the course of events during World War II.
