He was my paternal grandfather, and my family visited him and his second wife Virginia many summers in their lovely home on Lake Superior. He was a jolly and loving grandfather, and my memories are all very fond. In his later years, he suffered from significant dementia, but his demeanor was always pleasant. Sadly, he was preceded in death by his only child, my father, Robert Dissmore Hotchkiss, of Kansas City, and because of his dementia, never remembered that his son had passed away. He was lovingly cared for to the end by his devoted wife, whom we knew as “Ginnie.”
