  • Introduction

    Robin McCafferty, 36, departed this life on Dec. 23, 2006, after an extended illness. Visitation will be Dec. 26, 2006, from 11 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. at Springfield Cumberland Presbyterian Church. The funeral service will follow at 3 p.m. with Brother Kenny Morgan officiating. Robin was an alumnus of Lexington High School and UNA. Employed as an elementary teacher at Anderson Junior High School, she was affectionately known by her dearly loved students as "Mrs. Robin." Robin was a member of Springfield Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Robin was preceded in death by her father, Vernon Shelton. She is survived by her husband of 12 years, Benjy McCafferty; her beloved son, Blayne; mother, Mary Shelton; brothers, Tim Shelton (April), and Kenneth Shelton (Tonya); grandmother, Willie T. Mitchell; father and mother-in-law, Luther and Lanee McCafferty; a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, uncles, aunts and special friends. Pallbearers will be Benjamin Mitchell, Joey Mitchell, Jerry Huckeba, James Shelton, David Gray and Tim Truitt. Robin's love for children has led the family to ask that expressions of sympathy be made in the form of donations to St. Jude Children's Hospital in her memory. Throughout her courageous battle, Robin came to love God above all else and displayed immense faith. Robin's life and love was an example of God's love for all who knew her. Robin often quoted a Bible verse that rings true today: "By his stripes, I am healed." Elkins East Chapel is assisting the family..
