Introduction

Rocco Santarsciero is the son of Mathhew and May Santarsciero. He was the youngest of a big family with older siblings Donata, William, Patsy, Troy, Emily, Charles, and Joseph Santarsciero. They lived in Port Chester, Westchester, New York, USA. At the time of his registration for the World War II Draft he was 18 years old and a student at Port Chester High School. He had a ruddy complexion, brown hair, and brown eyes, weighed 135 pounds, and stood at 5' 4''. On February 19, 1943, Rocco then enlisted in New York City, New York. He joined the military under the Branch Immaterial - Warrant Officers, USA, as a Private, Selectee (enlisted men). On May 8, 1941 he married Ruth Tassiello in Manhattan, NY. The couple had two daughters together; Barbara and Ellen Santarsciero. The family lived in New York City and Rocco was working as a freight handler.
