Roger William Catteyson of Great Falls, Cascade County, MT was born on April 3, 1942 to John Catteyson and Kathleen Alvilda Catteyson. He had siblings Shelley Catteyson and John F Catteyson. He married Barbara Anne (Crevier) in April 1961 in San Rafael, Marin County, California United States and they later divorced in April 1962. He had a child Daniel Catteyson Blaettler. Roger Catteyson died at age 50 years old on March 24, 1993.

In 1942, in the year that Roger Catteyson was born, on June 17th, Roosevelt approved the Manhattan Project, which lead to the development of the first atomic bomb. With the support of Canada and the United Kingdom, the Project came to employ more than 130,000 people and cost nearly $2 billion. Julius Robert Oppenheimer, a nuclear physicist born in New York, led the Los Alamos Laboratory that developed the actual bomb. The first artificial nuclear explosion took place near Alamogordo New Mexico on July 16, 1945.
