  • Introduction

    Roland moved to Tasmania as a child with his father, Abraham Wickham Horsham the 3rd...after his mother passed away...Hanah Weatherill Horsham...Roland was an only child of his fathers 1st marriage, Roly (as he was fondly called) by family @ friends...married Jeannie Younie in Ulverstone in 1915 at the Presbyterian church, they had 3 children...Roland James (jimmy) 29/3/1916 to 1986...Jean 27/2/1920 to 1997......and Nancy 18/9/1923 to 2010....when Jeanies father died he left the young family land on forth road Ulverstone.. , He was (James Younie)...Where Roly had a home built in 1923..it later became Horsham Street East Ulverstone number 6 Roly and Jane (as Nana was fondly called) lived a quiet life at 6 Horsham street, concentrating on vegetable growing, Nana knitted crochetd and did craft work...both were very family orientated......Helping out when ever possible in the Ulverstone community , for family's less fortunate than themselves especially in the depression years after the 2nd world war, They are still fondly remembered in the Ulverstone community to this day......Kevin James Bakes (Horsham) grandson...2015...

You are Kellie...your grandmother was Jean Bakes formally Jean Horsham....... your great grandmother was Jeannie Horsham @ Roland Abraham Horsham was your great grandfather....Who lived at 6 Horsham Street Ulverstone Tasmania ...You are my niece @ Beverley June Bakes your mother is my sister....I used the surname of my grandparents from the 1980s for my music.....My father was Claude Henry Bakes.....Dad had 3 sons Basil Bower ( Basil Prior to his marriage to Jean Horsham in 1943) .."Michael John Bakes " Was born on mothers day 1949 and died one month later on the 5th of June...... Kevin James Bakes (me ) is the youngest son... He and Jean had 2 Daughters....Jennifer Jean Bakes born 1945 @ Beverley June Bakes born 1946...."Your Mother"...Click onto photos for images Kellie.....If you type into google....Roland Abraham Horsham 1891...Family photos under images will also appear....Claude and Jean Bakes are mentioned in the completed family tree of the Broadfield family tree...."George and Agnes Pheobe Bakes "were your Great grandparents on dads side of the family They are buried in the Wivenhoe Cemetary... Burnie Tasmania..."George and Agnes" had 10 children "Claude Henry Bakes" (Your grandfather the youngest son born in 1916 and dying at Latrobe hospital in 1996...No family tree of the Bakes family to my knowledge has ever been completed...Due to the amount of work and the extent of such a lot of them...All i have ever found are bits and pieces and a lot of the information about dads siblings documented are incorrect any way...."Agnes Ada pheobe ne Murphy".. married George Bakes in Deloraine "Nana Bakes was born at Wesleydale (near Deloraine) Wesleydale is a historic farm house and nana bakes was a house maid there prior to getting married she was born 1877 and died in 1959 ..I remember her well She lived in Mt. Street upper Burnie with her eldest daughter Beatrice Everson and Beatrices daughter Alice (The house is now a vet clinic )... I still remember the day she was buried Bev Jenny and myself spent the day at 6 Horsham Street with nana @ dah Horsham ,We had icecream a rare treat in 1959 .. If you look under the group ..". Ulverstone @ District a Pictorial History " You will find posts i have recently made of the times i spent with Jeannie @ Roly and an insite into their lives at 6 Horsham Street Ulverstone.............I hope this helps...
