Roman's and Rose's nieces from Illinois visit them in California
Roman Cargnino was my Great Uncle on my mother's side of the family. One of his sister's, my grandmother, was Marianna Cargnino. This branch of the Cargnino family was from Lemie, Italy. Marianna married my grandfather, Antonio Riva at the church in Lemie, Italy back near the end of the 19th Century. Roman emigrated and settled in Santa Barbara, California. Marianna and Antonio emigrated to Spring Valley, Illinois. Roman married a widow (Rose) with 3 children, I think. Roman's sister, Marrianna and his brother-in-law, Antonio Riva had 4 children: my mother, Christina (Petitti) of Spring Valley, Illinois; Theresa (Baima) of Oglesby, Illinois; Joseph C. (for Cargnino) Riva of Spring Valley, Illinois; and Jenny (Nicoli) of Oglesby, Illinois. All of these nieces visited Roman and his wife and family in Santa Barbara, California. Roman and Marianna had siblings in Lemie, Italy. I, myself, drove my mother and one of my nieces to California to visit with Roman and his family, when I was transferred to an Air Base in California in 1963. I have a family photo of that visit. I also have a photo taken of Roman and Rose on their wedding day, as well as a photo of her 3 children (I believe 2 boys and 1 girl). I, myself, never met Roman and his family. A couple of my cousins did: Eddie Nicoli (when he was in the Navy in the 1950s); and I believe John Baima, when he was in the Navy (Seabees) during WWII. I would like to hear from anyone who is/was related to Roman and his family.
