    Ronald Eugene Stowe Sr. Ronald Eugene Stowe Sr., 62, of 272 Mt. Sinai Road, Madison Heights, V.A., went into the arms of his Heavenly Father, Wednesday, July 5, 2000, in Lynchburg General Hospital. He was the husband of Linda Viar Stowe. He was born in West Virginia, December 9, 1937, the son of Jerry Stowe and Virginia Guill Stowe of Madison Heights, V.A. He was a foreman with Rock-Tenn, retired from the Virginia National Guard after 21 years of service and was a member and trustee of Temple Baptist Church. In addition to his wife and parents, he is survived by four children, Vicki Stowe Ranson, Ronald Eugene Stowe Jr., Sarah Elizabeth Stowe, and Joey Stowe; two grandsons, Garrett Stowe Ranson and Zachary Charles Ranson of Madison Heights, V.A.; one brother, Jerry Lee Stowe of Naola, V.A.; one sister, Patricia Stowe Gibson and his mother-in-law, Frebbie B. Viar of Madison Heights, V.A. Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M. Saturday in Temple Baptist Church by the Rev. J. D. Surbaugh and the Rev. Earl F. Clarkson. Interment will be in Fort Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 P.M. Friday at Temple Baptist Church and other times at the residence. The family suggest memorials be made to Temple Baptist Church. Whitten Monelison Chapel is serving the Stowe family.

In 1937, in the year that Ronald Eugene Stowe Sr. was born, on May 6th, the German zeppelin the Hindenburg caught fire and blew up. The Hindenburg was a passenger ship traveling to Frankfurt Germany. It tried to dock in New Jersey, one of the stops, and something went wrong - it blew up. Thirty-six people were killed out of the 97 on board - 13 passengers, 22 crewmen, and one ground worker. The reasons for the explosion are still disputed.
