Rosalie (Rosie) Alaimo was born on Christmas Day to Pasquale (Patsy) Amato and Gerlanda (nee Iacona) Amato. Sadly, Rosie's mother died in 1928 when Rosie was only three or so years old; and her father could not work and also raise a small child. And so Rosie was raised/adopted by James (Jim or VIncenzo) Alaimo and his wife Magdalena (Madeline) (nee Amato) Alaimo. Sadly, Magdelena (Madeline) also then died young. But, on a much happier note, Jim then married Antoinette (nee Amato) Alaimo, and the three became a happy family. Although Jim would forever be Rosie's "Dad," she never forgot -- and always loved and visited -- her birth father and her birth siblings.
Rosie became a registered nurse and moved to Huntington, West Virginia.
Like her adoptive mother and her birth mother before her, Rosie would also die at a young age. She succumberd to a brain tumor when she was only 52. And, not long after, her dear dad Jim also died. They were both much loved and are still sorely missed.
