Introduction

Rose was my Grandma and she was a very special person in my life. I still think of her with love every day. My Dad, Gerald was an only child, so when Nancy and were born she was elated to have 2 granddaughters. My brother Fred came along later.When my sister and I were little she would devote all of her attention to us. She played dolls with us, made clothes for them, took us shopping and read books to us. Every birthday she baked us a cake with a hidden silver dollar inside the cake. As I grew older Grandma became a wonderful emotional support to me. She was so excited for my wedding and the birth of my children. Of course she spoiled them and loved them tremendously. They were a brilliant light in her life as she became more frail. My final memory of her was taking birthday cake for Grandpa to the nursing home and she was not feeling well. She wanted to participate in our small celebration and asked me to feed her a little cake. It was heartwarming and sad at the same time, because I didn't think we would see her again. Grandpa and her were so close. They were married 65 years! My heart broke for him as well. Grandma left us on Thanksgiving Day. She was a wonderful blessing in my life and continues to be.
