  • Religious Beliefs

My grandmother, Rose, was angry at the Catholic Church and perhaps at God, as well (if there is one). For some reason, she only went to church on Palm Sunday to get the palms.
  • Military Service

Rose's brothers fought for Italy during WWII. Rose was very proud to be an American citizen. During WWII, she was offered a good paying job for a company that made bullets and artillery. It paid much better than any other job she could get but she did not accept it. While she totally supported the U.S. in this war, she did not want to have a hand in making a bullet which could kill one of her brothers. It was a sacrifice well worth making for her.
  • Professional Career

Rose Misino worked for DuBarry, which made gowns for Lord & Taylor and other high end stores. Ultimately, her job was to inspect the dresses and fix errors others had made. She was a top notch seamstress.
  • Personal Life & Family

Rose Misino sewed for her daughter, Toni, and also made dresses for her granddaughters, Dorie and Michele. She fixed her two grandson's clothes, especially the knees of their jeans. Her oldest grandson, Greg, used to slide into home plate while playing softball. Only thing, their field was made of asphalt. Our grandmother never complained about having to repair those jeans over and over and over again.
