Rose (Ellis) McIntosh was born in 1874 in Bendigo, VIC Australia to Thomas Ellis and Isabella Ellis ( McLean, and had siblings John McDonald Ellis, Mabel Bertha Boundy ( Ellis, Allan McLean Ellis, Thomas John Ellis, Emily Ellis ( Brown, and Charles Allan Ellis. She married Malcolm McIntosh, and had children Malcolm McIntosh. and Alan McIntosh. Rose McIntosh died at age 93 years old on September 18, 1968 in Toorak, and was buried on September 20, 1968 at St Kilda Cemetery in Saint Kilda East.

In 1874, in the year that Rose McIntosh ( Ellis was born, on September 14th, the Battle of Liberty Place occurred in New Orleans - the capital of Louisiana. Some members of the previous Confederate Army assembled for the purpose of "driving the usurpers from power" and the Republican Governor - William P. Kellogg - was physically driven from his office. The former Confederates temporarily replaced him with (the former) Democratic Governor John McEnery. Federal forces arrived, put down the insurrection, and five days later the legally elected government was restored.
