Rosa E (Ward) Campbell - May was born in 1908 at Beauty Mountain Trail, in West Virginia United States to Jack Ward and Bessie Ward, and had siblings Isaac Ward, Columbus Ward, Olive Ward Hart, Charles Ward, Stella Ward, Dottie Ward, Arbutis Ward, and LouElla Ward. She married James M Campbell in 1928. They had children June (Campbell) Pyatt, Imogene (Campbell) Spinks, Billy Campbell, Gerald Ray Campbell, and Geraldine (Campbell) May. She would also marry Orphas May in 1950. Rosa Campbell - May died at age 76 years old in 1984.

His plane "The Spirit of St. Louis" was a fabric-covered, single-seat, single-engine "Ryan NYP" high-wing monoplane designed by both Lindbergh and the manufacturer's chief engineer.
