When and where did Baggs die? I lived with him in Salt Lake City from 1976 - 1977. He was an ASTOUNDINGLY skilled guitar player and played in a band named Magic at the Black Bull, the Iron Horse and Widow McCoy's in Salt Lake City. He was a very sweet man, and I loved him very much, but he became a hopeless alcoholic and I learned that he had some kind of mental break and slid off the grid from my friends who knew him. I left him in 1977, and saw him maybe 4 or 5 times before I moved to Hawaii in 1981. He played as well as Chef Atkins, but mostly not country. He could also play like Les Paul, and his variations on a melody were so tasteful and beautiful that I was moved to tears on occasion. Once, years later, probably sometime in the mid 80s, he called me on my birthday (I had moved to Dayton, Ohio), and played, "Misty" for me. My heart broke because he couldn't play anymore. I wept when we hung up, knowing he probably wasn't going to be too long for this world. I have never found out when he died or where he's buried. I hope it wasn't in a pauper's grave. I was a hopeless groupie and lover, and am sad to hear he is gone.
