Roy's parents were Norwegian immigrants living in Brooklyn, NY. Roy's father was a merchant seaman killed during WWII. The family had moved to New Orleans where Roy enlisted in the Navy. He was in naval flight training at Athens, GA when the war ended. He met Mary, his wife to be, at Fort Polk, LA.
I met Roy in Decatur, GA in about 1968. He and Bill Bowers and Jimmy Hays had been working for Western Electric as traveling installers. Roy and Bill were members of the the Communications Workers of America union, but were fired for trying to organize the Teamsters to replace CWA.
Bill Bowers, Jimmy Hays, and I incorporated Modemco, Inc. in Decatur, GA in 1965, where we did communications related work. Eventually Bill and Jimmy left to work for ITT Business Communications, and Roy joined me at Modemco. Roy and I parted ways in 1980 when he moved back to Louisiana where he had met his wife Mary. Roy and Mary had just retired in Leesville, LA when he had a fatal heart attack. Mary died a few years later,
Roy and Mary had one son, Roy H. Jensen, Jr. (Butch). He was an Army vet of Viet Nam, married, and had had three children that I know of. His oldest son, Rex, died of juvenile diabetes. I believe Roy, Jr. died in 1998 and is buried in the National Cemetery in Houston.
