Add Memories, Stories & Photos about Ruble

My Mother, Ruble Jane Lafferty Wicker, was a very gentle, loving person. She was active in Grace United Methodist Church, the local Homemakers Club, Woman's Club and the Heritage Club. She loved gardening. She raised a vegetable garden as well as flower gardens and she passed her knowledge, if not her green thumb, on to me (her only daughter). Her grandchildren (3) were doted upon and adored her. She raised her children mostly by herself as my father's work kept him away from home quite a bit. She had clearly drawn lines as to what was acceptable and what was unacceptable behavior and my brother and I respected that. She was always well groomed and appropriately dressed and when she died I was obsessed about finding the perfect outfit for her burial. She was diagnosed with leukemia on Oct. 1, 2000 and died on Oct 14, 2 weeks later. She left a hole in my heart that will never heal.
