Ruby Mary Blanche (Trevan) McCleery of Horsham, Horsham Rural City County, VIC Australia was born on February 20, 1879 in Horsham to Mary Grose (Gregory) Trevan and Joel Henry Carew Trevan. She had siblings Robert Biddiffe Carew Trevan, Henry Gothe Carew Trevan, and Amelia Laura (Trevan) Voumard. She married Henry McGifford McCleery in 1907, and had a child Henry Antony Carew Mccleery. Ruby McCleery died at age 77 years old on August 30, 1956 in South Australia.

Called the "Tournament East–West football game" at the time, the Michigan Wolverines (East) played the Stanford Indians (West) - the Wolverines won 49 - 0. (The Stanford captain requested an end to the game with 8 minutes remaining.) The Tournament of Roses Parade began in 1890 and the football game began as a way to boost tourism in the area.
