Russell Francis Vancuren was born on February 17, 1929 in Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania United States. He was married to Elnora Claire Vancuren in 1955 in Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, and they were together until Russell's death on March 27, 1999 in Moorestown, Burlington County, New Jersey. He had children Russell Eugene Van Curen, Timothy Michael Vancuren, and Thomas Francis Vancuren. Russell Vancuren was buried on April 4, 1999 at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Memorial Cemetery 350 Province Line Rd, in Wrightstown.
